RZ-7 A-wing Jedi Interceptor

“Any pilot who volunteers to fly an A-wing better be brave or crazy. Probably helps to be a little of both.”

DESCRIPTION

The RZ-1 A-wing interceptor was a starfighter designed by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. One of the fastest mass-produced interceptors in the known galaxy, the A-wing was even faster than the Imperials’ TIE Interceptor, despite also having shielding and a hyperdrive, unlike the cheaper TIE model. Many advances were added and the RZ-7 model is even faster than its predecessors as it is tailored to take into account the hyper reflexes of Jedi Pilots. The A-wing is smaller than most fighters being the size of a small speeder.

TIE/D Defender

“You’ll find the Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Defender is the fastest, best-equipped starfighter in the galaxy.”

Trying to target a fighter with Proton Torpedoes is quite difficult however and would be at -2 to hit but doing an extra +4 to damage.

DESCRIPTION

The TIE/D Defender, commonly known as the TIE Defender, is a high-performance TIE Series starfighter developed for the Imperial Navy by Sienar Fleet Systems. Representing a shift in starfighter design from previous TIE models, the ship featured a hyperdrive as well as deflector shields to allow it to operate independently of Imperial capital ships. The ship’s speed and agility, combined with its firepower, made it arguably the most advanced starfighter available.

TIE/LN starfighter

“…Seinar System’s basic TIE fighter—a commodity which, after hydrogen and stupidity, was the most plentiful in the galaxy…”

DESCRIPTION

The TIE/LN starfighter, or TIE/line starfighter, simply known as the TIE Fighter, was the standard Imperial starfighter seen in massive numbers throughout most of the Galactic Civil War and onward. Colloquially, Rebel and New Republic pilots referred to the craft as “eyeballs.”

The TIE fighter is the original design for later upgraded TIE models such as TIE/sa bomber, TIE/IN interceptor, TIE/D Defender, TIE/D automated starfighter, and many more. TIEs were designed to attack in large numbers, overwhelming the enemy craft. Standard attack squadrons consisted of 12 fighters while full attack wings were made up of six squadrons. The Imperials used so many that they came to be considered symbols of the Empire and its might. They were also very cheap to produce, reflecting the Imperial philosophy of quantity over quality. Now completely obsolete the only place that Tie Fighters are still a common sight is in the Corporate Sector who inherited many Imperial military assets.

TIE/IN Interceptor

“Your generic TIE grunt is just plain suicidal. And the TIE Defender jockey is bloodthirsty. But the TIE Interceptor pilot, he’s suicidal and bloodthirsty. When you see a squad of those maniacs flying your way, you’d better hope your hyperdrive is operational.”
―Kyle Katarn

DESCRIPTION

The TIE/IN starfighter, or TIE Interceptor, was a TIE Series starfighter used by the Galactic Empire. The TIE Interceptor was identifiable by its arrow-shaped solar collection panels, a distinct difference from the hexagonal solar arrays of its predecessor, the TIE Fighter. The Interceptor was one of the fastest starfighters in the galaxy at its prime, nearly rivaling the Alliance’s RZ-1 A-wing interceptor.

Due to their speed, distinct shape, and narrow profile in comparison to the TIE/ln starfighter (which was nicknamed “eyeball”), TIE Interceptors came to be referred to occasionally as “squints” by enemy pilots.

T-65XJ8 X-Wing Fighter

“The Incom T-65 X-wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star. An almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive shielding make it the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron.”

DESCRIPTION

The Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter was the primary all-purpose starfighter of the Rebel Alliance and its successor governments. Known for its versatility and exceptional combat performance, it was a favorite with Rebel and New Republic pilots. Possessing deflector shields, a hyperdrive, an R2 astromech for repairs and navigation, and a complement of proton torpedoes, the X-wing allowed the Rebellion to launch raids in Imperial space with improved odds of a successful mission. The T-65XJ8 has been redesigned almost from scratch. It has an internal navigation computer so an astromech is no longer necessary. However, some ships have been retrofitted to carry an R2 because of their utility.

“We’re using Y-wings because of their greater firepower. But they move like a sleepy Hutt, so watch it.”

DESCRIPTION

The BTL Y-wing starfighter, built by Koensayr Manufacturing, was a mainstay of the Alliance Starfighter Corps. It was often used as an assault bomber to attack enemy capital ships directly in conjunction with the later B-wing starfighters. Still around after over a century of service Y-wings are rugged and powerful despite being largely obsolete.
